The Wiccan Rede
Bide ye wiccan laws you must,
in perfect love and perfect trust.
Live ye must and let to live,
fairly take and fairly give.
Form the circle thrice about
to keep unwelcome spirits out.
To bind ye spell all the time,
let thy spell be spake in rhyme.
Soft of eye and light of touch,
speak ye little, listen much.
Deosil go by the waxing moon,
Chanting out thy baleful tune.
When ye Lady's moon is new,
kiss ye hand to her times two.
When the moon rides at her peak,
then ye heart's desires seek.
Heed thy north wind's mighty gale,
lock thy door and drop thy sail.
When the wind comes from the south,
love will kiss thee on the mouth.
When the wind blows from the east,
expect the new and set the feast.
Nine woods in the cauldron go,
burn them fast and burn them slow.
Elder be ye Lady's tree,
burn it not or cursed ye'll be.
When the wheel begins to turn,
soon ye beltane fires will burn.
When the wheel has turned to Yule,
light the log thy horned one rules.
Heed ye flower, bush and tree,
by the Lady blessed be.
Where the rippling waters go,
cast a stone, the truth ye'll know.
When ye have and hold a need,
harken not to others greed.
With a fool no season spend,
or be counted as his friend.
Merry meet and merry part,
bright thy cheeks and warm thee heart.
Mind ye threefold law ye must,
three times bad come three times worse.
When misfortune is enow,
wear thy star upon thy brow.
True in love ye must be,
lest thy love be false to thee.
These eight words the wiccan rede
An it harm none, do what ye will. ~~~~
The Witches Creed
Hear now the words of the Witches,
The secrects we hid in the night,
When dark was our destiny's pathway,
That now we bring forth into the light.
Mysterious water and fire,
The earth and wide-ranging air.
By hidden quintessence we know them,
And will and keep silent and dare.
The birth and rebirth of all nature,
The passing of winter and spring,
We share with the life universal,
Rejoice in the magickal ring.
Four times in the year the Great Sabbat Returns,
And the witches are seen,
At Lammas and Candlemass dancing,
On May Even and old Hallowe'en
When day-time and night-time are equal,
When sun is at greatest and least,
The four Lesser Sabbats are summoned,
Again witches gather in feast.
Thirteen silver moons in a year are,
Thirteen is coven's array,
Thirteen times at Esbat make merry,
For each golden year and a day.
The power was passed down the ages,
Each time between woman and man,
Each century onto the other,
Ere time and ages began.
When drawn is the magickal circle,
By sword or athame or power,
Its compass between the two worlds lies,
In Land of the Shades for that hour.
This world has no right then to know it,
And world of beyond will tell naught,
The oldest of Gods are invoked there,
The Great Work of magick is wrought.
For two are the mystical pilars,
That stand at the great of the shrine,
And two are the powers of nature,
The forms and the forces divine.
The dark and the light in succession,
The opposites each unto each,
Shown forth as a God and a Goddess:
Of this did our ancestors teach.
By night he's the wild wind's rider,
The Horn'd One, the Lord of the Shades.
By day he's the King of the Woodland,
The dweller in green forest glades.
She is youthful and old as she pleases,
She sails the torn clouds in her barque,
The bright silver Lady of midnight,
The Crone who weaves spells in the dark
The master and mistress of magick;
They dwell in the deeps of the mind,
Immortal and ever-renewing,
With power to free or bind.
So drink the good wine of the old Gods,
And dance and make love in thier praise,
Till Elphame's* fair land shall receive us,
In peace at the end of our days.
And Do What You Will be the challenge,
So be it in love that harms none,
For this is the only commandment.
By magick of old be it done!
*Elphame is the Celtic Goddess of death and rebirth.
Charge of the God
Listen to the words of the Great Father, who of old was called Osiris, Adonis, Zeus, Thor, Pan, Cernunnos, Herne, Lugh and by may other names:
My Law is Harmony with all things. Mine is the secret that opens the gates of life and mine is the dish of salt of the earth that is the body of Cernunnos that is the eternal circle of rebirth.
I give the knowledge of life everlasting, and beyond death I give the promise of regeneration and renewal.
I am the sacrifice, the father of all things, and my protection blankets the earth.
Hear the words of the dancing God, the music of whose laughter stirs the winds, whose voice calls the seasons:
I who am the Lord of the Hunt and the Power of the Light, sun among the clouds and the secret of the flame,
I call upon your bodies to arise and come unto me. For I am the flesh of the earth and all it's beings. Through me all things must die and with me are reborn.
Let my worship be in the body that sings, for behold all acts of willing sacrifice are my rituals.
Let there be desire and fear, anger and weakness, joy and peace, awe and longing within you.
For these too are part of the mysteries found within yourself, within me all beginnings have endings, and all endings have beginnings.
Charge of the Goddess
Listen to the words of the Great Mother; she who of old was also called among men Artemis, Astarte, Athene, Dione, Melusine, Aphrodite, Cerridwen, Cybele, Arianrhod, Isis, Dana, Bride and by many other names:
Whenever ye have need of anything, once in the month, and better it be when the moon is full, then shall ye assemble in some secret place and adore the spirit of me, who am Queen of all the witches.
There shall ye assemble, ye who are fain to learn all sorcery, yet have not won its deepest secrets; to these will I teach things that are yet unknown.
And ye shall be free from slavery; and as a sign that ye be really free, ye shall be naked in your rites; and ye shall dance, sing, feast, make music and love, all in my praise. For mine is the ecstasy of the spirit, and mine also is joy on earth; for my law is love unto all beings.
Keep pure your highest ideal; strive ever towards it; let naught stop you or turn you aside. For mine is the secret door which opens upon the Land of Youth, and mine is the cup of the wine of life, and the Cauldron of Cerridwen, which is the Holy Grail of immortality.
I am the Gracious Goddess, who gives the gift of joy unto the heart of man. Upon earth, I give the knowledge of the spirit eternal; and beyond death, I give peace and freedom and reunion with those who have gone before.
Nor do I demand aught in sacrifice; for behold, I am the Mother of all living, and my love is poured out upon the earth.
Hear ye the words of the Star Goddess; she in the dust of whose feet are the hosts of heaven, and whose body encircles the Universe. I who am the beauty of the green earth, and the white Moon among the stars, and the mystery of the waters, and the desire of the heart of man, call unto thy soul.
Arise, and come unto me. For I am the soul of nature, who gives life to the universe. From me all things proceed, and unto me all things must return; and before my face, beloved of Gods and of men, let thine innermost divine self be enfolded in the rapture of the infinite.
Let my worship be within the heart that rejoiceth; for behold, all acts of love and pleasure are my rituals. And therefore let there be beauty and strength, power and compassion, honour and humility, mirth and reverence within you.
And thou who thinkest to seek for me, know thy seeking and yearning shall avail thee not unless thou knowest the mystery; that if that which thou seekest thee findest not within thee, thou wilt never find it without thee. For behold, I have been with thee from the beginning; and I am that which is attained at the end of desire.
The Witches' Chant or Rune
(1957)
Darksome night and Shining Moon, East, then South, then West, then North, Harken to the Witches Rune: Here come I to call thee forth.
Earth and Water, Air and Fire, Wand and Pentacle and Sword, Work ye unto my desire, Harken ye unto my word.

Queen of Heaven, Queen of Hell, Horned Hunter of the Night, Lend your power unto the Spell, Work my will by Magic Rite.

By all the power of land and sea, by all the might of moon and sun,
What is my will- "So mote it be,"What I do say- "It shall be done."
Book Blessing
Hearken as the Witch's word
Calls the Lady and the Lord
Moon above and Earth below
Sky's cool blue and sun's hot glow
In this right and ready hour
Fill these pages with thy power
My no unprepared eye to see
The secrets which entrusted be
To who I walk the hidden road
To find the hearthstone's calm abode
Guardians from the four directions
Hear me now and lend Thy protection
May these truths of Earth and Skies
Shielded be from prying eyes
But to the Witch whose map this be
May the way be plain to see
And through all the coming ages
May I find home in these pages
So Mote It Be!
